Beaujolais Nouveau

Do you know what the third Thursday of November is? That’s right BEAUJOLAIS NOUVEAU time!

The release of the this fun very drinkable French wine is meant to celebrate the harvest. The wine is usually very young, most producers bottling their wine as soon as six weeks after picking. With this method of production you end up with a wine that is extremely soft, with very little tannin, highlighted with subtle notes of banana and fig. What makes if even more perfect is that it coincides with Thanksgiving and this wine pairs very well with Turkey.

The grape is GAMAY. By law this wine can not be sold until the third Thursday of November so at 12:01 I got notified my order was ready to be picked up. The wine had notes of strawberry and black current. Wonderful nose. Silky tannins, and a nice long finish of cheery.

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Noveau 2012 $8.99

So, cast off your cares, get happy, put on a funky tie, maybe a green vest, get an accordion player and buy a few bottles of Beaujolais and be happy.
